A few of my friends had been visiting some surf spots south of the border and were really drawn to this one. A nice point break wrapping around into a protected bay. As you can see from some of the photos the kelp is so thick it will sometimes stop you in your tracks on the inside sections.
Weary of crowded surf in the San Diego area, we were motivated to take a road trip. We arrived Friday after about 5 hours on the road to some small but nice shaped surf. All forecasts were calling for better things to come and we were not disappointed. Saturday and Sunday produced some nice head high plus waves.
When the sun went down things quickly got mucho frio and the evenings were spent huddled around the campfire enjoying the best of times with friends. We had music from Rap to Reggae, fireworks (sometimes a little too close) stories of run ins with the Policia, and a good time in general.
There is nothing quite like sleeping under a starlit night, then watching the sunrise far removed from the hustle and bustle of every day life in Southern California. It is at times like these when I feel alive and well.
